WESTERN MUSLIMS AND THE NOTIONS

Last week i went over to my friends place for dinner and alhumdolillah dinner was scrumptious..we really enjoyed a lot. After dinner we sat down for chat and started chit chat about different aspects of life..and then came the topic of life of us muslims here in the western countries..

I really find this topic quite interesting to discuss..reason being people back in our home countries that is INDIAN SUBCONTINENTS and the MIDDLE EASTERN countries are living in the belief that the muslims living in the west have forgotten their religion and are totally living according to the western lifestyle which is called MASHRIKI life in urdu.

i am nobody to write about what others feel and say but since i am living here in the west from last six years..i can definitely feel that this statement,is not 100 percent correct...to some extent or for some percent of the people it may be correct but for a large percent this statement is incorrect. There are many muslims living here who are way more practicing than the ones living in the east or MAGHRIB.

So as i said we were discussing about life in west with my friend..her mom said that she met a lady in her home country who asked her "why are you going to that western country..what is so good about that country..wahan jaake bachche bigad jaayenge and ek na ek generation mein gori aajayegi jo tumhara deen kharab kar degi"...and then aunty said i also thought that she was saying correct..that's when i asked aunty very politely that aunty this statement is correct to quite an extent but it depends completely how you raise your children and then how your children raise their children..so its all a game of upbringing and atmosphere of a person.

Its true their are many things in the west which are completely forbidden in islam and one should refrain from doing them..but it depends on a person that which path he chooses the path which is correct from islamic perspective or the path which is forbidden in Islam.

I also have one strong contradiction to the thinking of wrong in west and right in east..that is there are many countries which are for namesake islamic but are very strongly and boldly doing and following the wrong things and still raising the flag and shouting i am islamic..the people there are openly drinking alcohol..not taking abaayas and hijab..wearing forbidden clothes etc and still being called islamic...islam does not see east and west it sees practicing and non practicing person whether in any part of the world.

People back in east consider wearing lose pants and tops which are completely covering a woman's body haram but wearing saree is considered halal because its the discovery of east..People consider saying bismillah before eating or drinking anything haram makes it halal..

In the west i have seen many muslims who are way more practicing than the people in the east..here people are punctual in namaz..they with all the right ways follow the teaching of quran..regularly read quran..offer zakat..fast..help the needy..very strictly and with punctuality teach their children quran and its teaching..wear abaayas and hijab with dedication and punctuality..where back in our country many people don't wear abaayas and hijab with punctuality..they are like sometimes they wear and sometimes not..on and off.Back in our home countries also people marry interfaith and inter caste..its not only in the west..islam is not about a place or region its about individual and families.

I feel if I instill the teachings of QURAN and ALLAH SWT in my children and their imaan is strong and close to allah, no matter which country i and my family is in we will always follow our faith rather than following and getting involved with others lifestyle.ONE more thing is that all the non muslims whether any religion..CHRISTIANS..HINDUS..ETC are very supporting to their muslim brothers and sisters in the west country..So the conclusion of the topic is ISLAM is not seen or felt from a place or region but from individuals and families practicing and non practicing abilities. There are good and bad here also and good and bad there also..Its one's own choice which path to choose..the one that lead to ALLAH SWT  or the one that is forbidden..dont blame the west for the wrongdoing of a handful people because there are many who are on the right path.
